Video of Demetrius winning an Oscar for, “Girls Dancing, Causing Pain”
Saturday, after the long, hot, humid run (we’ve had a very cool August, so this run was a killer for everyone in the group), we went to the Atlanta Hong Kong Dragon Boat Festival. We didn’t know what to expect, but it was rather cool – for everyone but Demetrius. If I could ever figure out how to upload a short movie I recorded on my iFlip, you guys would all chuckle. Imagine lots of little Laotian girls doing a native dance, with lots of people clapping, filming, etc…and one little boy rolling around in the stands, covering his ears and saying, “it hurts, it hurts.”
I didn’t hurt. It wasn’t an autistic moment. What it was was an eight-year-old boy who didn’t want to watch little girls dance and wanted to go buy a plastic samarui sword and jump in a huge bounce house. That’s what it was.
If you don’t know the history behind the Dragon Boat Festival, see here – it is kind of cool and maybe you have one in your neighborhood.
Yesterday was Fall planting – I put down seed, planted bulbs and a new tree, and then we just hung out at the house – did a day of family painting of pictures in the basement and played SpongeBob Monopoly….
Pretty suburban day at the house, I should say…..
I will work on figuring out how to upload that vide.
