One Way To Calm Your Nerves…

As I was packing yesterday, I could hear the wee-ones in their rooms playing.

When the kids get back from a long trip, and even though the grandparents load them up with toys and toys and toys (see video of Demetrius’ haul at the comic book store below), they nest into their rooms and the playroom.  You hear Demetrius playing with superheroes that haven’t been touched in a week… and of course, Barbies have to catch up with Marie, Maya’s American Girl doll, which made the trip to and from Texas.

I heard Maya telling the ‘girls’ that Daddy is going to be driving up to Lexington, but it is okay, because he is going to come back a lot.  You stop and listen, and think about the wonder of a child’s imagination when it is set free – when was the last time you (adults, I mean) were nervous or scared and you acted out your concerns in such a way to better handle them?  The closest I can think of is talking to myself.  Trying to visualize as the experts tell us we should do…

Natural therapy what she was doing, if you will?  She didn’t sound scared or nervous, in fact, very matter of fact-ly she played it out.  Yes, Daddy will be back very often, and no one should be nervous or scared.

So I was thinking about me being a bit nervous about starting the new gig…

I thought that maybe talking to a naked Barbie might just make me feel better too. How about you, guys?

No dice, didn’t help, it just felt a little creepy.

Just joking, I didn’t talk to any naked Barbie dolls of Maya’s…

Seriously, I didn’t. ☺
